Changing ai_licia’s name on Twitch

Updated: 4 days ago

Our guide on how to do it seamlessly!

Since launching ai_licia, Streamers have been asking about being able to change ai_licia’s name in their stream, to fit the character they want in their community.

It can be a bit difficult to navigate how Twitch enable you to do that — especially the first time — so here is our guide!

Creating a Twitch Account

First thing first, you need to have a Twitch account that will be used by ai_licia — which we will call Display Name from now on — different from your usual account. Make sure that the Display Name account will be used only by ai_licia, otherwise it will create A LOT of confusion in ai_licia brain.

Once you have created the Display Name account, make sure you can post messages in your Twitch chat. With all the safeguard from Twitch against bot raids and ill-intentioned individuals, you might need to have a verified email address or phone number on the Display Name account. You also have to mod or VIP that account.

Last thing, you will have to write this exact sentence in the bio of the Display Name account:

This account is powered by ai_licia, more information on https://twitch.tv/ai_licia

Adding a new Display Name

We have a short video to walk you through the steps of adding the Display name on our Dashboard.

N.B: With recent Dashboard updates, some elements of this video are a bit out of Date. The guide has been updated below.

Otherwise, you can read what follows.

Now that you have a Display Name ready, it’s time to let ai_licia know which name she should be using!

NOTE: You need to be connected to your Streaming Twitch account when accessing your ai_licia Dashboard.

Go to one of your Characters, on the Display Name tab.

Below, you can find all the setup instructions to follow- which we explained above already.

Then, you have the list of all the accounts you can use. By default, you will the ai_licia default account.

If you want to add a new Display Name, click on New Display Name button.

It will open a new section asking your for the token of the account your want to add.

Now, where to get this token? You may have noticed a Get your token button. You want to click on it. It will get you to a page looking like this:

Now, you don’t want to click on Connect as it would get the token from the Twitch account your are currently logged in. Open than link on another Chrome profile/Browser/Incognito browsing window where you are logged in on the account ai_licia will use.

Now, click on connect.

Copy that token and paste it in the Token field. You should see the Twitch username automatically populated. Tick the box for the exclusivity, and click on Add.

You will see the new name in the list of available Display Name. You can then switch to the one you want to use at any time, on each of your Characters.

Most frequent issues

To make your life easier when it goes wrong, we have compiled a list of our most frequent issues, and how to solve them.

I setup a Display Name but ai_licia joined instead

It seems that you are missing one of the following:

  • The “This account is powered by ai_licia, more information on https://twitch.tv/ai_licia sentence in your bio

  • Set the Display Name account as mod or VIP on your channel

ai_licia joined with the right Display Name but left after a few messages

This happens if we detect that another 3rd party service, or bot service like Wizebot is also using the account. Create a separate account for ai_licia or remove the 3rd party integrations and it will solve the issue.

It seems like ai_licia didn’t join at all and didn’t post any message

If you see the Display Name account in your viewer list on Twitch, but it’s not posting any messages, it means that the account is not allowed to chat your channel. It is related to the restrictions you can set on who can chat on your channel, as in account with a verified email, or phone number.

The easiest way to solve the issue is to login on the Display Name account, and try to chat manually on your stream. You should get feedback from Twitch on what’s missing. Follow their instructions to remediate. If you connected the account with a 3rd party recently, you may also need to regenerate the token.

I am not sure what’s happening, but it’s not working

That happens! If you have tried the previous items and you still have issues, or are not sure how to make it work, please join our Discord and ask for help! The community will be happy to help you.
